My tripod fell over and my a7r2 was damaged on 11/1/15. I have a Warrantech warranty by Smartguard, purchased on Amazon.
My Smartguard Warranty was registered on 11/2/15. Per instruction from Warrantech, I sent the camera in to phototech.com for repair on 11/4/15. Phototech.com finally submitted to Warrantech for authorization on 11/17/15 at which time phototech.com notified me that repairs would take 3-7 business days, there was no mention of backordered parts. On 11/30/15 phototech.com notified me that it would take 10 business days for the repair subject to parts. On 12/11/15 phototech.com notified me that only 2 of 3 parts had arrived and Sony could not give an ETA for the final necessary part.
Since it appears to be true based on information from phototech.com that Sony cannot supply a needed part, and how much time has passed, and there is no ETA for the needed part, I think Sony or Smartguard Warranty should replace my camera with a new a7r2. How would I go about contacting Sony and/or Smartguard regarding this request. The camera is in possesion of phototech.com. I have to take phototech.com at their word, that Sony cannot supply the part. Not sure how to proceed. Jim Jacobson
