  1. Dear friends, I'm having trouble in making both my sony (A7S & A7R2) cameras work in High Speed Synch (HSS) when I set my Sony HVL-F43M flash to HSS and TTL in manual mode at max output 1/1, the Phottix Odin set to HSS and TTL and both cameras set to wireless flash mode; the main problem is that the flash won't give the full 1/1 full power unless I set my shutter speed to 1/250 or less. I try to raise the speed higher and on the A7R2 it has the shutter speed limited to 1/250 and on the A7S it will allow me to select a higher speed, but then the flash will give a much lower power output... I'm sure I am doing something wrong when setting both my cameras, but have tried changing settings through my menus, without any luck, success, or what is worse, not knowing how to set it up. The whole idea is to use the flash as a fill-in flash to lighten up daylight photography, needing at the same time to freeze the subject (mainly wild birds) moving fast. If I press the test button on the ODIN transmitter it will give the full power burst each and every time, but when I press the camera's shutter button it all goes to hell I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to configure my cameras so I manage to achieve what I need. Best regards, Spanish Flyer
  2. Dear friends, I used to have Nikon equipment, cameras, flashes and lenses and to trigger the flashes remotely I used PocketWizards TT-1 and TT5; it worked like a charm and to get proper readings I used the Sekonic L-358 with an added PW Transmitter installed inside the meter I could then get independent flash readings at any time. Now with my Sony cameras the PW's only work in manual mode, no TTL or HSS nor the ITTL I used to enjoy. So my following move was to purchase a set of Phottix Odin Transmitter and receiver which work well (most of the times..), but what I was raving for was to be able to trigger the flash/flashes from "a" light meter. SInce the L-358 did not have a Phottix transmitter option I sold the unit and purchased a brand new Sekonic L-478DR PX designed for Phottix as it comes with a built in Phottix transmitter that according to the manufacturer works just fine with the Odin system... For the past two days I've been trying to get the Sekonic to trigger my Sony HVL-F58AM mounted on the Phottix Odin without any luck; changing channels, flash configurations and so on, but it just does not work. I can by all means set the meter to read any flash within a certain time in seconds, and take a reading, but trigger them remotely by pressing the transmitter (as I wanted), just refuses to work. I wonder if anyone has this kind of equipment and maybe knows how to make it work, because I have run out of ideas. I could be doing something wrong, but as I said, after so many tests I should have managed... : ( Best regards, Spanish Flyer
  3. I am wanting to get into some off camera flash work using high speed sync with radio (not infrared) controllers. This will require a controller/transmitter for the camera and a receiver for the flash. Pocket Wizard cornered this market for years, but it looks like the best option now is Phottix Odin. Phottix has a flash (Phottix Mitros +) with an Sony Multi Interface Shoe and a built in Odin transmitter. But it looks like I will need to purchase a separate controller/transmitter if I take the Phottix Mitros + flash off camera. I guess I could use the Sony HVL-F20M flash as an optical trigger, but I want radio. Thoughts/suggestions from Forum. Also, the major suppliers in US are back-ordered on the Phottix Mitros + flash. Any rumors about what that is about?
