  1. @Ted Glad to hear Precision was better the second time for you. And,sure, I get that a dropped camera is not under manufacturer's warranty. But when you do send it somewhere for repairs you don't expect to wait months for parts. It should not take extra-ordinary efforts on Sony's service blog to get action. When I hear, "The regular support channels were no use at all", is when I get nervous. Sony is selling a boat load of new A7's and some of them are going to be defective, some of them are going to be dropped. If Sony can't do a good job on repairs, their customers are going to suffer. And not silently.
  2. And this is why I am extremely hesitant to spend US$6000+ switching to an A7system. Sure, the vast majority of users of A7 bodies and lenes will have no need to have service done. Heck, in 11 years of Canon DSLR usage I have never had to send a body or lens to be serviced. But if I had, my expectation is that they would have done a quick and good job. Reading so many posts about the utter incompetance of Sony's service center in the U.S., and ones like this where Sony cannot supply parts, makes me really nervous about getting that A7Rii and lenses.
