This rumor makes no sense.  There is already an e-mount 24 Zeiss 1.8.  It's a wonderful lens.  Sigma's president says they try to do something that hasn't already been done.  I would just like them to adapt the existing Art lenses to the E and FE mounts.  The lack of fast lenses keeps these cameras from being able to compete with their dslr peers.  The 18-35 f 1.8  would be awesome on the emount cameras; and the 35 and 50 1.4 lenses could potentially give the A 7r the low light capability and image quality to go head to head with the Nikon D810.   Hope Hope.

I'm with Vivek. Also you're reasoning is flawed. If they wouldn't/shouldn't make a 24mm lens because there is already a premium priced 1st party lens why would they make a 35 or 50mm because Sony now has excellent options in both those categories. And before you say the FE 55mm is not fast enough, the difference in actual light transmission between the Sigma ART and FE 55mm is less then a third of a stop. But don't be me check out the measured specs on DxO Mark (ignore the subjective measurements).

The 18-55mm would be useful but no smaller than buying the a-mount option with the laea2/4—which is a better option anyway as the lens isn't optimized for contrast AF.

Optimized for contrast AF?
