New to Sony (as I was as well, 8 months ago) coming from Nikon or other camera bodies, I recommend going out at night shooting.  

 

Its not about taking night photos, its more about your "brain" on low/NO light.  I found learning the new button placement and gaining that muscle memory was greatly accelerated when having to learn in the dark.  Forcing myself to let my finger hunt for that button in the dark may seem counter-intuitive, but in no time I was changing settings and firing off shots.

I just re-read this post, and it reminds me of my first girlfriend.  So I guess not unlike the human body, forcing yourself to let your finger hunt for that button in the dark... it also works on your Sony Body.  :wub:
