a6000 with IR Remote - No Zoom functionality

I have just purchased the RMT-DSLR2 for my a6000. It works great for navigating the menu so I know the camera works with it. However, the Zoom feature is my primary reason for it and it is totally unresponsive. I have tried it on 2 different a6000's. I have updated the firmware to the latest on the camera body and the lens. Still no zoom.
Has anyone got this working with this IR Remote on the a6000? What's the magic?

Configure browser push notifications
Chrome (Android)
  1. Tap the lock icon next to the address bar.
  2. Tap Permissions → Notifications.
  3. Adjust your preference.
Chrome (Desktop)
  1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
