Hi, I get the a7rII yesterday in a sony demo and I want to test this option.

Silence shutter is amazing for me. I'm a nature fotographer and a camera with silence shutter and ssm lens is juste perfect.

But it has some drawbak

- You can't use the quick photo mode (very sad for action fotography)

- You can't use any flash

- If you take picture of something very fast it can have rolling shutter. An exemple of rolling shutter with the a7rII at 1/1000eme of sec.

did you know some other disadvantage?

Hello yoyo35,

Take a look here: exemple of rolling shutter . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

Other things around the shutter:

  • about -1 DR with silent shutter or continous shot.
  • silent shutter can have issues with low frequented lights.
  • don't use EFCS above 1/1000sec because it will darken the top of the picture.

conclusion: use continous shot and silent shutter only if you need it. Use always EFCS unless you'll go higher than 1/1000sec.

the first one of the pics looks so cool! :)

don't use EFCS above 1/1000sec because it will darken the top of the picture.

Ah, that's what it is! Thanks, I was getting that when using my Canon 70-200mm on the beach, and thought it was an odd adapter issue or auto nd filter.

Oh, and I like the first picture as well, but I can think of situations when you wouldn't want it!
