Is there a battery pack for a Sony HVL F43 M used on Sony A77ii, I have just started doing some event photography most of the time it is single shot photography covering lots of competitors. May be 400 to 4000 shots per event. Flash used as a fill flash.

Regards

Hey Roger!  Have you made a switch from Nikon (I know you from Nikonians), or are you a two-brand shooter?

I think Nikon is still the best camera for stills because of Handling, Speed, AutoFocus accuracy, AutoISO, etc.

But, since the D3 there have been little improvement. I am waiting for them to catch up in Video before I buy another body as my D5300 is good enough for the few single shots I take now that my Event Business has ceased.

Most of my Photography/Video work consist of up to 90 minute Sunday morning Services and sometimes over 3 hours of continuous Bowling in poor/low light..

My Panasonic GH4 is exceptionally good for this with a battery that usually last over 3 hours of internal recording and very good AFF.

It is also very light and compact and if need be can be mounted on my lightweight carbon fiber TriPod. I can but the entire kit in my smallest bag.

The problem is that it is maxed out in that poor/low light and it shows in the final output.

But it is still my first choice for Travel or Hiking.

I have been on the fence and probably should have picked up a JVC LS300 to go with the GH4 (same lens mount), as the form factor is better for Video and it has a s35 Sensor.

But I already had the FullFrame A7s and it's capacity for even higher quality Video in less light goes way beyond anything else.

So I spent that money on a 4k Odyssey 7Q+ recorder.

At that point I could use all my Pro Nikkor Glass to greater advantage than any Sony lens.

Then Sony came out with the 28-135 Cine lens that not only enabled good AutoFocus but also gave me more controls over my Videos.

This has become my dedicated lens.

My next camera will probably be a Sony CamCorder with A7s Sensor.

But hopefully Nikon will surprise us all like they did with the D3 and come out with something truly revolutionary.

    • I have a slight problem with my A7Riii connected with the auto-focussing. Occasionally it will not auto-focus at all and the image remains out of focus. Checking the FN function the focusing tab is greyed out and if I persevere it will say 'This lens not compatible or not connected' etc.  I have to remove the lens and refit it, making sure I push the lens hard.  This happens with all my lens so I suspect it is the camera. I examine the contacts, cleaned them all and examined the mount etc but all seems fine.  Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if it is fixable.
    • My Sony z7iii Camera sometimes sits for long periods (weeks) in its camera bag. I began having the problem of the camera 'forgetting' the date & time when I'd power the camera on. I learned that the internal ('real time clock') battery only gets charged when : 1.) The camera is turned-on (with the regular battery in the 'battery well') as when the camera is being used or 2.) When the camera is turned-off and a fully charged 'regular' battery is in the camera's 'battery well' and the external charge cable is plugged-in (and connected to the AC charger) (Typically I've found that the tiny  amber 'charging' LED comes on for a brief period when the external charger is first plugged-in but then it goes off. Apparently it is only then that the internal battery starts to be charged ... when the amber LED goes off.) When I looked into the situation I found that I was not the only person having the problem. Other a7iii owners had asked how to charge the internal battery and then Sony explained to leave the camera plugged into the charger for at least 24 hours. (I don't believe that this is covered in the Owner's Manual.) I have managed to charge-up the internal battery (at least enough such that the date & time is maintained for awhile) but I now question if 24 hours is long enough ? In late June (2025) I left my a7iii Camera plugged into the external charger for several days and 6 weeks later the camera still remembered the date & time (though the clock's accuracy isn't all that good) Does anyone have any evidence as to how long the a7iii needs to be plugged into the external charger to fully charge (as when the camera came from the factory) the internal battery ? • a7RCII weirdness: Yesterday, after a few normally saved shots, my a7rcii began to record 3 identical images for each exposure I took. These were not bracketed in any way, all shot in AF-S mode, just 3 identical files with the expected sequential filenames. The metadata for each is the same except for the filename. Any ideas about what's up with this? I'll check the camera again later today.
