Sent my new G Master lens in for warranty repairs last Friday. Yes it arrived new with the grinding sound. I purchased the lens from B&H 60 days ago, shot a few pic's around the house on my A7RII and put the lens away. I had a shoot on Saturday and decided to use the 85mm G master. The lens body beeped when I mounted the lens and turned on the camera. It would slam hard against stops without focusing at all, more beeps. I have two A7II bodies in addition to the ARII. Same behaviour. Software current on all bodies.
B&H wouldn't consider an exchange or return (don't blame them, they're just sticking to policy) so I went through the return process. Cost me $65 to send it in UPS ground and insured. Sony won't pay postage. I was told that it would be at least 10 days after they received it before it would be ready to return. So I could be without the lens for almost a month. I'll report on this once my (new) repaired lens is returned.
