85 1.8FE Flare

Hi guys great site.

I am aware the flare is a bit of a reported downside to the 85 1.8fe, however, I didn't quite expect it to be like this. I have tried to find other examples online but have found nothing as bad as this, the sun is out of the frame, further up on the right.

Have any users experienced this type of flaring? is this normal for this lens? it's pretty extreme. Lots of other examples available

Here picture with Minolta MD 20mm F 2.8 with the sun out of the picture on the top side

and here using my left hand to cover some of the light coming from the sun (not easy with a 20mm lens without placing my hand in the picture). There is still some flare but a lot less stray light.

Thanks for the advice.

My question was more in relation to the type of extreme flare I am getting in this situation. I was actually looking for however, I have never experienced anything like it with my canon 85 1.8 or any of my other lenses.

I have not had that issue yet. I do, however, use ND Filters when outdoors and that helps. I've purposely had shots turn out with some lens flare, but nothing so extreme I can't edit it to where I like it.
