AF-C malfunction, hunting, with Sony A7s i, A7s ii, Rokinon 50mm AF

Recommended Posts

I noticed that AF-C doesn't work well with the Rokinon 50mm AF lens on my Sony a7s i. The camera never stops hunting for the correct focus. I tried the lens on an a6000 and the AF-C worked really well (fast and accurate). I tested the lens on an a7s ii and I had the same issue. Finally, the lens worked perfectly on the a7r iii.

Ive heard of people having similar issues when trying to use the Zeiss 55mm lens on the a7s i. I tested the Zeiss 35mm 1.8 lens on my a7s i and it focused perfectly.

I realize the camera is outdated but has anyone had any similar issues / success solving the problem? My a7s i has firmware 3.20.

Thanks!

I have several examples of issues like that,

even including supposedly identical bodies

having different AF behaviors with certain

lenses. Note that word: "Supposedly". The

not-so-small difference is always firmware,

with the more desirable behaviors always

resulting from the later versions.

YMMV but that my dos pesos.
