New user. Best overall lense!

Hello. I’m a new user of the alpha series cameras from Sony. I’m planning on purchasing an A6300 or A6500. I’m looking for recommendations for a lense that I can use for scenery, street and car show photography. Thabks for the help!!

What are your priorities? Low price? Best optical performance? Small size? Best AF performance? ...

 

What I would recommend if you want best IQ for little money: Sigma primes (30mm and 60mm F2.8) or the Sony 50mm F1.8

 

Also great, but expensive: Zeiss 24mm F1.8

 

If you want just one lens with the best versatility: Sony 18-135mm

Just estimate which of the e-mount lenses, 

within your budget, most closely resembles 

the lenses that were sufficient ... or better ... 

on your old camera. 

   

If your old gear was really old you may find 

that 1 zoom lens now covers what formerly 

was the work of 2 or 3 primes plus 1 zoom.  

Modern zooms are equal to most primes of 

long ago, so don't simply dismiss them out 

of hand.

18-135 is best compromise for a first, all purpose, quality lens.

I've the 18-105 G OSS and though its a little heavy, it does about everything I need but very closeups.
