If there is blue light in the scene -- either from the light source or reflected off of blue surfaces -- like swimming pools -- I don't see how any filter would counteract that. A PL filter can reduce some reflections at certain angles, but that gets rid of surface glare which is usually white -- like sunlight. So you could try a PL, and it might control some of the glare, but it might actually increase the amount of blue light instead of reducing it. -

I see - the claim that the UV filter "prevents bluish tones" relates to photography using film, not digital. Digital cameras are not sensitive to UV, unlike film. The polariser, on the other hand, could be useful to you to cut glare and let your photos show things in the water.
