nijbuck
Hi guys. I'm really hoping someone can help me out! I'm having problems with my 70-200 f2.8 on my A7sii. The lens won't communicate properly with the camera. It started as an intermittent fault, but now does it all the time. Basically, the camera takes a good few seconds to come on, resulting with the F number not being displayed, the lens won't focus (either auto or manual) and the display constantly dims and brightens again. If you switch it on and off and disconnect the lens and reconnect a few times, sometimes it will work properly. I also have the Sony 16-35 f4 and the 55mm f1.8 lenses - there are no problems with these at all. So - I sent the lens back to Digital Revs service agent. It came back with no fault found. They suggest it's the camera itself. I've tried to update the lens firmware but the update software hangs and doesn't recognise the lens is connected to the camera. I'm reluctant to send the camera body back, as we constantly need it for our corporate work! I'd be extremely grateful for any suggestions. Many thanks in advance. keepcoding
Strange, any chance to test the lens on another camera? (just to make sure Digital Rev checked the lens properly) I assume you have already checked the contacts for corrosion or other damage...
Guest Jaf-Photo
I've had a similar problem. It was the locking pin on the lens mount on the camera. It allowed the lens to slip which broke contact.
LiveShots
I agree, it sounds like a locking pin issue. The 70-200 is significantly heavier than your other lenses and this may account for the issue not impacting the smaller/lighter lenses.
