Phil Kirk
Amazing photos. I'm very jealous, I'd love to go to lake Biakal one day. On the battery front, there's nothing wrong with your camera, all lithium batteries behave like this in extreme cold - you will find that the batteries seem to regain their charge when they warm up. Next time, keep your batteries inside your jacket. When the battery in the camera runs out, swap it for another one while it warms up again. You will find that you can get a lot of shots with just two batteries, one in the camera and the other warming up. I've used this technique in -30 and it worked well. Do NOT put your camera in your jacket, it will get covered in condensation, which will freeze again when you take it out! Sid
I'm a long time SAR reader but signed up to this forum just to congratulate you on these images. Stunning work! Would you consider sharing how you made this trip? Did you go on a photography tour or did you plan everything out yourself? I'd really like to head to Baikal at some point, but I've always put it off and instead gone to more accessible places, so if you could share your planning process it would be much appreciated! One again, inspiring images! Gift.of.Light
