a 6000 batteries end quickly

Is this a genuine Sony branded battery? How old is it? Some non-Sony batteries are fine, but you must shop carefully.

Lithium ion batteries degrade much more quickly if stored with a full charge. For that reason I usually store my spare batteries with a partial charge (about 75%). If I’m leaving for a trip I’ll bring them all up to full charge. When I return, I’ll rotate the spares through the camera over the next few weeks to draw them back down to 75%. I have about six batteries for my Sony cameras, but only two are Sony branded. They have lasted several years with this approach.

I'm still new into my A6000 ownership but I will agree the battery life is stupidly poor.  Went on a photowalk and leaving the camera on so I'd be ready to grab a shot and in under 2 hours and 47 shots the battery went from fully charged to dead.  Immediately ordered 2 wasabi's with a charger and just ordered 2 more since I'll be taking my A6000 on vacation with me and figure I'll need them if I shoot any video.

And don't even get me started on the in-camera USB charging.  310 minutes?  That's 5 (FIVE!!!) hours.  Ridiculous.

Hint from David Busch:  Leave "Pre AF" OFF (default setting). David Busch says leaving Pre-Auto Focus On will deplete your battery much faster because auto focus will be ON even before you press the shutter button half-way down.  Also leave Airplane Mode ON.  That will help a little.

Old topic and no activity by the OP, but battery life is always relevant and useful to the new user.

In addition to airplane mode and pre-AF=off, one can also deactivate the AutoReview function, at menu 2-1-5. I have found it helps. Generally browsing the memory card to go through the photos seems to waste quite a bit of charge...

I've fount that a new battery (sony or other brand) needs quite a few cycles before it reaches its normal capacity. I recently bought a cheap chinese copy that needed 15+ cycles and now lasts a lot more. Still not as much as the genuine though.

Last but not least, a powerbank can save you! Instead of having a second battery (until a few months ago), I charged the camera in bag with a powerbank (2A output). I think the battery went from less than 20% to 100% in less than an hour. Perfect during a lunch stop!
