June 29, 20178 yr Author How did you capture this moment?!! Wow its amazing and a very good job! Thanks! Very good light is essential! Unlike portraits, for action bird shots, lots of direct sun is helpful. I shoot at very high speeds, and therefore if necessary, drive up the ISO to get the speed I need. I also set-up the shots in places where there is a lot of bird action (around feeding areas, etc.) especially with a lot of movement, take off and landing flights. With birds, such as fast sports, I shoot in the high+ burst mode. The burst rate on the Sony A99ll helps. I shoot birds both handheld as well as with tripod and remote. Sum up: don't be afraid to increase the ISO, high speeds, small apertures, burst mode, optimize setting, patience, trial & error, luck! Hope this helps.
