How is shutter speed set using the Fotasy manual adapter?

Camera is the a6000. I am new to all of this, lol.  How is the shutter speed and ISO set when using the Fotasy and other manual adapters?  It would have to be set in camera, right?  If no info is sent to the camera with the manual adapters, is it what the camera was last set on that fires when the shutter is pressed?  How does this work?

 

Thanks all.  I'll quit asking questions eventually.  :-)
