help! live streaming from a6000 to a projector

Recommended Posts

I want to connect my sony a6000 camera to a projector via HDMI to continually stream video for up to 7 hours at a time, and I have run into a few problems:
1. I can't figure out how to disable the display icons on the camera so that they don't transfer to the projected image (have tried hitting display buttons and changing settings etc.)
2. the camera battery doesn't last very long, and if I plug the camera into a power source it goes into USB mode and stops connecting to the projector

Does anyone have any idea how to get around these issues??
Should I change my set-up? Is it not possible to achieve with the sony?
Thanks so much for any advice!

Not sure if its exactly same for the a6000, but on an A7R2 under Menu>Setup>tab3  there's a setting "4K Output Sel".

This gives 2 x options:

1.  Memory Card + HDMI, or

2.  HDMI only (25p)   (this is in PAL mode, it might read 30p in NTSC)

Option 1 gives a reduced image on the external display + the camera information, where

Option 2 gives a full-screen clean HDMI feed, no overlay information via a micro-HDMI Type A to TypeD cable plugged into the HDMI port.

Be interested to know if this is also available in the a6000.

2. the camera battery doesn't last very long, and if I plug the camera into a power source it goes into USB mode and stops connecting to the projector

Using the above setup, I plugged the power charger into multi/micro USB port and it showed the little "charging" symbol next to the battery symbol (you can see a tiny power-plug symbol next to battery 1 in pic), and also kept the feed to monitor.

You can also plug in an external battery supply via the multi/micro USB input, I tested with a Li-ion power pack and it seemed to work fine too.

You do need to keep at least one battery in the camera, or the dual grip, otherwise this won't work.

There's alternate dummy battery supplies out there too (google/youtube for options).

See pic below for the camera back with information overlays, and the clean signal sent to monitor to the right of camera (projector should be the same).
