mounting Metabones IV to tripod?

when using larger lenses mounted to the Metabones IV adapter and a7r2 where do people mount their camera to a tripod?  I've been mounting the tripod quick release plate to the camera but it's not a very balanced system and am wondering about mounting the QR plate to the Metabones adapter?  Are there any precautions I should be aware of, can I damage either of the mounts?

 

Any insights or advice is greatly appreciated.

The metabones has a tripod mounting foot there precisely for this purpose.  Why would you not want to use it?  Balance is much improved, less strain on your camera mount as well.
