LA-EA3 - two negative discoveries

I am using a rented a7R II and SAL70400 with the adapter from A to E.

On the a7R II it works pretty well but does not support DMF focus mode. I can live with that but not very happily.

Today I tried the lens + adapter on my a6000 and it tried to autofocus but really could not do it. I tried both full auto and limited auto and it simply hunted.

Since I had never read about that I decided to tell all of you what I experienced.

FYI only.

Yep SONY blocked DMF and eye AF on lenses with adapters.

Metabones EF-NEX IV adapter, however, gives you DMF and eye af with Canon lenses! Only 4rth version and above.

All these adapters work fine only on A7R2, A7-2, A6300 and A6500. Other can use only LA-EA4 to get autofocus on A lenses...

Yep.

I wouldn't quite call them "discoveries", cuz those are

the behaviors Sony specifies for those combinations.

Frinstintz, I use the LAEA3 for all my ancient A-mount

lenses, and only the functions that Sony specifies are

operational. But it suits my needs so I bought it.

LA-EA3 works better on a6500 than on a7ii for me or Nex5t for that matter. 425 PDAF points on the a6500 sensor vs 117 on the a7ii and 99 on the Nex make a difference. LA-EA2 or 4 are required with all screw drive A mount glass regardless of body.
