DanArt
Okay so I am investing into speedlites into my wonderful adventures in photography and the A7 seems promising ( as well as the A5/A6 Full/crop ). I will be using these off camera via sync cables. However I want to keep things wireless for the most part. Why the YN-622C/N series ? they are compatible with regular speedlites ( considering the voltage ) and is able to achieve speeds above 1000/sec without the need for HSS camera functions. My purpose is to beat the speed of the sunlight in areas where a flash is needed. Not just bounce back/mix the sunlight itself. I can achieve that with faster shutter speeds and thus the YN-622 is uneeded. If any information on TTL functions with this model please do add. delewin
Hi DanArt, The Yongnuo models you quoted are for Canon or Nikon only (C=Canon and N=Nikon.) The YN-622C or the YN-622N will not give you TTL on any Sony camera because they are not designed for a Sony. They will work in manual mode only. I cannot talk about the YN-622C/N but I do have a set of 4 YN-560 mk3 controlled by a YN560-TX manual flash controller. These flashes are not TTL compatible. Just cheap, good quality manual flash units. I purchased the Canon compatible models and I use a YN-H3 adaptor to fit my Sony A77. They work perfectly and will sync right up to 1/8000 sec firing directly from the hot shoe. I hope that is some assistance? Regards, David
DanArt
Okay so to answer my original question. I have tried the YN-622N model and it works at regular 200/250 seconds. Anything higher will start to show a black bar/etc. However I was also reading that even if the flash is slow it can be synced based on the receiver settings ( as delewin has mentioned about hisTX setup ).I know TTL functions are meant to control the flash setting in order to balance the amount of flash needed for the image. However I using manual flash units. So far I have gotten the results I needed at 200/250 seconds. My goal is to use the flash at a level without TTL functions and worry about light settings during the Lightroom phase of retouching.I use the AR7II. Apparently the unit fits correctly however some units do not fit or respond due to the paint job where the pins ground. My original goal was to get a Nikon D5 series but I have recently dived into the world of SONY via the AR7RII. Even if the camera is loaded with problems it is really nice and seems to do a great job right out of the box.Thank you for your response. Kibito
Thanks to the information in the post I found a solution to use the YN-622 on my Alpha AR7II I use two YN-622N and two YN685 from Nikon D7200. The transceiver units YN622N works well a couple times on the AR7II but then the units do not respond anymore due the pins scratched the paint and connected to ground. After many tests, I found out that only the pin Q (Quench or TTL Stop) connected to ground disable the transmission. The solution was putting a small piece of isolating tape over the base of the hot-shoe where the pin Q touch, and now works perfectly with the YN622N or YN685 mounted on the hot-shoe (or re-paint) (now working with two cameras of diferent brand at same time with Youngnuo). from Argentina Thanks
