flash harry 1
As a newbie who has owned an A6000 for two years, I am amazed to find out by chance that Sony offer dozens of apps for my camera (some free, some paid for). BUT having downloaded and run their 'downloader' tool, I am still unable to pay for, or download the apps I want....... Every time I click on "proceed to purchase", a window opens asking me to download their downloader tool again (which I have done twice now)! Please please can someone tell me what's going on and how I can download apps to my camera. I dearly want their focus bracketting app (priced at £3.99). Advertisement Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Hi flash harry 1, Take a look here Camera apps.... available in UK?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rscottcampbell
Flash Harry 1, This is just a random thought. If you're running into this problem on your desktop, try a different browser. I've been finding more and more sites that don't support Chrome and when I try the same thing in Internet Explorer or whatever they are calling it now, poof (it's magic to me ok:-) ) it works. This is also true for some reason on my phone. So I keep a couple browsers installed on each device. Just a thought. Let us know what happens. - Scott
JonathanStewart
You have to first set up an account on their play memories website and include a payment method, then login on your camera using the same credentials. This will let you download paid apps, from within the camera, while it's connected to wifi. BTW, that bracketing app is pretty weak. The only apps worth anything IMO are time lapse and the angle-shift add-on, and to a lesser extent the star trails and the smooth reflection. The touchless shutter is a pretty cool app too, and it's free.
flash harry 1
Many thanks Scott & Jonathan. I was going to try using Chrome. I have already created an account on Play Memories, but it did not ask me for credit card or payment info. This makes me think that maybe apps are not available in the UK. Can anyone confirm this. Very helpful to hear that the Focus bracketting is weak.... I did wonder! In view of Jonathan's comments, I think I'll abandon all hope. It doesn't now seem worth the effort of overcoming all Sonys hurdles just to get access to apps that are not really up to what customers should expect :-( Thanks for your comments. Very helpful. I run into a similar problem here in Italy with my A7r. Finally I found a solution: forget installing apps through the camera interface! Log in on the playmemories store via a computer, register your data (credit card etc.), and download the playmemory utility (basically a browser extension that works in the background when you connect your camera). At that point connect the camera via an Usb cable and you will be able to install all the apps you want using the browser on your computer. Hope it'll work for you as well. Michael_j
I found it worked with Explorer but not with Chrome.
