I have a focus rack that lets me adjust the camera position in X and Y very nicely, but I sometimes need this in Z as well.  My best tripod is a Manfrotto which does not have anything on vertical except total release.  I'd like to have maybe a cm or so plus or minus in Z.

Is there a gizmo that will accomplish this for me?

Be aware shopping for this [Mamiya Paramender], cuz

there's another version, that looks kinda like a scissors

jack or kinda like that pantograph thingy on the roof of

an electric railroad locomotive. This other version is not

adjustable. It raises the exact distance between the two

lenses on a Mamiya TLR but it locks at NO positions in

between full-up and full-down.

Quick release plate atop a quick release plate? We're only talking one centimeter here. For increments this minuscule I use a stack of business cards beneath the legs. Fully adjustable +/- in card thickness increments.

The paramender might work but it seems tippy to look at it.

I could stack things up underneath, but what I'm looking for is some way to finely adjust vertically without dismounting anything. My existing tripod allows me to release the shaft, but it's very hard to do small adjustments that way.
