Nikon lens caps fit E mount

Well, the title says it all.

 

It come in handy when you're out shooting with Nikon legacy glass to keep things nice and easy, having to bring (and to keep track of) just one kind of lens cap.

Tried the old and new style original Nikon rear lens caps, they do fit but neither locks tight enough to stay fixed on the lens.

 

Are you using third party caps or are we talking front lens caps here?

In this case I had an half drawer full of original ones from my Nikon days (new and old style). If I rotate them counterclockwise they are extremely tight, even more so than the Olympus ones I wrote about previously.

 

Could be because I'm using them on adapters, and not original E mount lenses?

If your adapters have the thick-lobed rear flange

thaz machined directly from the aluminum tube  

of the adapter, that makes sense for them to be

snug enuf. My Metabones adapter has a proper

chromed brass rear flange, and never snugs up

to any version of Nikon cap. Like you, I have all

the versions, back to "Nippon Kogaku", plus the

various Sigma, Tokina, etc etc.

I'm pretty sure you nailed the reason, not having a Metabones I didn't think of that.
