With A7II, Tracking with E Mount Lens much better than A Mount with LA-EA4

I noticed at a Track Meet this past weekend that the A7II with the kit lens FE 28-75 f3.5-5.6 was much better at Tracking The Hurdler Coming straight at me than the A Mount lenses (Zeiss 24-70 f2.8 T and Sigma 70-200 f 2.8 HSM) with a Sony LA-EA4 adapter. In a better way of saying this The FE Sony lens kept the Hurdler in  focus for as long as I held the shutter. The A Mount lenses kept the subject focus for maybe 3 seconds and then the subject went out of focus as it got close. I guess I will have to invest in more FE Sony lenses?

 

I have used the A Mount Lenses with the A7II at other photo shoots and they performed quite well. Especially Basketball.

 

Any thought or ideas would be appreciated.
