Hello together,

a couple of days ago I used my old Tamron lens on my Sony A7 II, I turned off the Automatic APS-C detection on the menu to still be able to use the complete image sensor area of the camera.

Using a Commlite EF to E-Mount adapter the autofocus speed is okay, although it's not as fast or reliable as on the Canon 70-200 f4.0 I'm using, too.

I was positively suprised about the sharpness of the lens, even when shooting wide open. Of course there is a large black area on the outer edges of the sensor but depending on the use case this might not matter much, which I would like to show you here. Lacking a tripod that niht I had to put the camera down on the ground on the camera bag.

It's 15 seconds exposure at f4.0 with ISO6400. Post processing involved:

  • +1 EV
  • more contrast
  • lights up, shadows down
  • white up, black down
  • some clarity and a slightly steeper graduation curve (30,15,-15,-15)
  • a little bit of sharpening and no noise reduction

 ...

That's it:
