Fort San Cristobal is located in the city of Gracias department of Lempira , built on a small summit on the city, which was once the center of the town of Gracias a Dios was once capital of New Spain and home to the Royal Hearing of the Borders in 1544; Thanks was a strategic city in the Province of Honduras in the colonial era, then the pro independence period and then in the Central federal transition.
