Almost irrespective of what it might be, I think the usual recommendation would be to leave it as is unless it affects your use.

Trying to repair it often causes more damage, especially if the repairer is unskilled.

 

That said, if it is causing issues (interfering with controls or vision) then the best course of action might depend upon the material, or availablity of parts.

If it's a cheap part, easily replaced, the solution is obvious. If replacement is not an option then it is often easy to polish plastic (with a great deal of care and patience), but glass will need an experienced a professional to do it.

The easiest and cheapest way is often to apply a protective sheet (such as made by Folix) even after the damage. Do it well and it can often mask most of the scratch.
