flash problem with Metz 52 AF-1

I've been using my A7ii with a Metz 52 AF-1 flash for a few months, suddnely the TTL mode stopped working. If I'm in TTL it always fires at full power, which as you can imagine is not ideal. Even if I dial the flash all the way down it still fires only at full when in TTL, Works fine in M mode, but sometimes I want to work fast and TTL is great for that. Has anyone seen this before?

I assume you have the MIS shoe version of the Metz. If not, the adapter you are using may also be the cause.

 

Did any of the front connectors on either the flash or at the front of the shoe on your camera body got torn, distorted or otherwise damaged in any way ?

 

This is the actual connection that lets flash and camera talk to one another and if any pin is damaged or torn out of place, this would be the first place i would look.

I have this same combination and it works well for me. I have not noticed any TTL issues. Maybe there's a connector issue.
