February 2Feb 2 I have a Sony Alpha 350 that has developed a Control Dial problem. With the camera in aperture priority, it does not let me use the range of available apertures on my lenses. For example, my 100mm@2.8 Minolta Maxxum Macro lens has a range of f2.8 to f32 but the control dial lets me select from f2.8 to f4 then it jumps back down to 2.8 again. The camera does this with all my lenses, 50mm@f1.7, 28-85mm, 75-300mm, 135mm@f2.8. When I put these lenses on a different camera, the full range of apertures can be selected, so I suspect the lenses are OK. When I switch to shutter priority, the Control Dial only allows me a few shutter speeds, not the full range. When I switch to Program Mode, the camera works normally. I used a can of clean compressed air and blew some at the Control Dial. ( Very very carefully ) This did not help. The only thing I tried that made a difference was to give the Control Dial one click at a time, and wait a second or so between clicks. That will sometimes allow me to select the full range of apertures on a lens. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what was your solution and outcome? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
