I'm trying to put together the "ultimate" river trip photo kit.

I have a7II and a7 IV bodies, a 21mm f/1.5 manual lens, a 100mm manual macro lens and I've now ordered a 24-70 AF zoom.

My idea is to keep the AF zoom on one of the bodies and use the other body for the two manual primes.

I'm thinking the a7 IV, having a more advanced auto focus, would be the obvious choice for the AF zoom, but I thought I'd get some input on that.  Maybe I'm missing something.

Weight and space are important considerations, so I might have to go with just one of the primes.  Any opinions on whether I should take the macro or the wide angle?

I'm thinking I'd use the wide angle for night sky shots and the macro of flowers, insects, and such.

I agree. The AF on the A7 IV is so far advanced compared to the A7 II, it is likely the best choice for AF the majority of the time. Plus, you have bird eye focus in video if you're so inclined.

Having said that, I think you may also want a longer lens for a trip like that. Maybe consider a 200 or 300 something if possible. If you have an A-mount adapter there are a ton of low-cost options out there.
