I have recently upgraded to an A77 11. Second hand, obviously. I am struggling a bit with all of the extra bells and whistles from my A580.

When I use the camera I have received quite a few memory card messages, the camera cant process etc, memory card needs to be reinserted , data lost. A few remote shots on a tripod didnt come out.

I now have a massive time lag when i take a shot, even with a very high shutter speed there seems a 2 second delay before i can take another shot. Is this likely to be a memory card issue do you think? I have tried a different card, with no improvement in the lag

Welcome to the FORUM.

My first thought is that the seller got rid of it because of this problem.  Since you tried a different card (I assume it was formatted in the camera) that's a bad sign.

Do you have a manual?  If not, get one.  They should be on-line at SONY.  It will tell you how to reset everything to the factory default.  Try that and see if it works.

Also, your camera uses different types of memory cards -- try a different TYPE.

You should be able to take several photos in ONE SECOND with your camera.

1. Do a factory reset. Look in the toolbox menu. Sometimes this can correct a deep setting someone programmed and you can't see. It's best to do a factory reset anytime you buy a new camera.

2. Return the camera if nothing else works. Quickly.
