A7RIII - iPhone location linkage/GPS issues

I had location linkage working with my A7RIII & iPhone, getting GPS coordinates via Imaging Edge app. But now it's not working. 

• I am able to send images to smartphone, and control camera with smartphone. 
• when I try to turn location linkage on, via the camera, it tries to connect to iPhone, but can't
• in camera, Bluetooth Settings, "Bluetooth function" is on
• when I select pairing via camera, camera displays "perform pairing on connected device." In Imaging Edge app, I see my camera listed, and press "start" button. I get a popup saying "Imaging Edge" wants to join wifi network, so I hit "join." Then I get error, "unable to join the network." 

Any ideas? This seems needlessly complicated and buggy.
