Editing files from Sony FX3

Hi - my son did some filming for me on his Sony FX3, and I cannot open them for review on Quicktime. I only get audio and a black screen.

I can open the files on VLC, but can't see a simple way to save them so I can use them on FCPX. I started reading about ffmpeg, but my eyes started to glaze over. I confess, this was beyond my limited technical understanding!

I know this is an Alpha full frame forum, but I'd be eternally grateful if somebody had any suggestions how I can easily use the clips to match the footage from my Sony A7riv.
