Sony A9 resetting file numbers

Hey Folks! Any clues what my A9 did at my wedding yesterday?

I started the day on file number 08275 when the file number reached 09999 the A9 started a new folder and went back to 00001, as you would expect. Then when it got to 00183 it weirdly went back to almost the number the camera was on when I started shooting on the day, give or take a few digits?! The images are correct - one after the other as the bride walks down the staircase. The file number behaved correctly thereafter - reached 09999 again, created a new folder and went back to 00001, then carried on without further issue. 

I obviously have several files with the same names, which I luckily spotted - but it could've been missed if I'd outsourced, so a little worrying - has anyone experienced anything similar? There was no obvious error, no delay, no battery swap, nothing, the camera shot seamlessly so I can't logically think of a reason for the file number issue.
