Lagging Shutter Release button on A7R iii

I am hoping someone can help meet. I have been shooting with this camera for three years and the performance has been exactly what I wanted. Recently I notice that the amount of time time for the snap after I release the button is a lag of about two to three seconds (an estimate). Not sure If  I may have accidentally changed something or if this is a malfunction of the camera. Any idea and or thoughts will be appreciated.

I use a 7rIII so can't be sure if all your settings are accessed in the same way, but... it sounds as if the drive mode has been inadvertantly changed to "self-timer: 2 sec". This has happened to me while handling the camera I accidentally pressed and rotated the left side of the large scroll wheel. Take a look and see if you need to reset it to "single shooting" mode.
