Jay968
No matter what I try, whether I shoot RAW and JPG, or just JPG, the option to turn on lens distortion is disabled. It is greyed out in the menus. I have tried with both the 24-70 and with the 18-105 (which really can use some distortion correction). There seems to be absolutely no way to enable this menu option. Help please?

Guest Peter Kelly
Is the 24-70 the f4 version? If you're using an adapter with the older a mount then it probably won't work. The lenses need to be in the cameras own firmware database to apply distortion correction, so I assume your lenses are not part of that dataset. That's interesting - I've never heard anything said about the "cameras own firmware database" but it makes sense. So I wonder what age (or model number sequence - is there such a thing?) the lens has to be to be included?
Wesley
You can try what this person did in a similar thread. http://www.sonyalphaforum.com/topic/1753-lens-profiles-for-adobe-camera-raw/
rob mcc
I have not tried it but I wonder if you need to switch off " release without lens" due to the peculiarities of the software you can only change what is available. Regards
mark1
I realize this thread is 3 years old but I just had the same question about my A7iii and SEL 24-70 lens. Have a look at this link, then click on the lens of your choice: https://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/cscs/lens_body/index.php?mdl=ILCE-7M3&area=gb&lang=en&id=hg_stl It seems the 2470 is not "fully compatible" with the A7iii, so the distortion control will always be set to Auto, i.e., always on. It cannot be turned off, at least in JPEG mode. That says something about the amount of distortion this lens causes, but it's well corrected in camera.
