Sillygoose
Hi. Please can someone help a newcomer to the world of custom buttons on the A7ii? I wanted to use back button focus and so disabled the shutter focus button and have set the AEL button to Focus On. That works fine - just what I wanted. However, when using Spot metering how do I lock that spot meter reading and then recompose my photo? Holding the customised AEL button doesn't do it and nor does the shutter button? I know I am missing something obvious but would appreciate some help. Thanks

Heyrudeboy
I'm sure you can couple AE lock to the shutter button in the custom keys menu.
addicted2light
The AEL button on the back has a switch (the ring around it). So you can assign to the AEL button 2 different custom functions: 1 with the switch up on the "AF/MF" position (for example "focus on"), 1 with the switch down on the "AEL" position (for example "meter reading lock"). At this point you would normally keep the switch up to "AF/MF" to use it as "Focus on", and move the switch down to the "AEL" position before pressing the button when you need to lock the spot meter reading.
