Sony 90mm f2.8 ‘rattle’ - does yours behave this way?

Just picked up a secondhand 90mm f2.8 Macro and all seems good so far.  But...

When I put it into manual focus, the 'insides' rattle a little.  More of a 'clunk' really.  As if there are some 'floating' elements in there.  More noticeable at the short end of the focus ring.  I used to have a Sigma lens on APS-C which was very worrying when switched off, but settled down when powered on.  Maybe something similar?

Possibly some movement in AF (not the AF motors), but more noticeable in MF.

Anyone else experienced the same?

Here’s a short video of the noise…

I too have a 90mm f2.8 macro bought new in 2017, never dropped, and observed the following:

- Lens mounted on my a7rIII, manual focus selected, camera power OFF: the subtle rattle is heard

- Lens mounted, auto focus selected, camera power OFF: rattle is heard

- No rattle is heard in either case when camera power is ON.

Great lens and have never had an issue using it in a variety of conditions using either manual or autofocus settings.

Interestingly…. Today I put it on my A9 and…. No rattle!  Couldn’t replicate it no matter what I did…. Gently!

I wonder if the IBIS on the A7C doesn’t quite play nicely with the OIS with this lens until active with half press.  Other OIS lenses don’t have an issue, but they’re zooms.
