Sound and video problems with new A6400 - Help

I've just purchased the A6400 to move away from my iPhone when producing content for my business. I've come across 2 problems when recording video. 

First is that when I playback the video on the camera or on my PC the image becomes distorted. 

The second is that when using my Rode Wireless Mic, which worked fine on my iPhone, the audio sounds strange. It sounds very "basey" or deep and a little too synthetic or digital. All the voice tones are lost. 

I haven't really played with any settings. Is this an issue with settings, hardware, the memory stick or something else?
