A7RII Narraganset, RI Sunrise

I was able to get out at sunrise this past Sunday for my first landscape shoot with the A7RII and the FE 16-35 lens.   So far I am loving this camera.  I forgot to turn off steadyshot, so I lost a few frames that were totally blurred out.  With my Canons, the churning sound of the IS was a dead giveaway that IS was still on, so it was easy not to forget to turn it off.  With the A7RII I'm not used to having such a silent camera.  Dynamic range, especially in the shadows is amazing compared to the 5DIII.

Both these shots were taken with a 2 stop hard GND and a the Lee square circular polarizer.  I did notice that it was a little hard to see the polarization effect on the back screen, but this could have been due to it reducing the light transmission by 1,5 stops and the fact that it was already really dark at sunrise.

Wow nice pics! What do you think about the 16-35 in combination with the A7RII? I am thinking about getting both... Is the 16-35 sharp enough for 42 megapixels?

Thanks.  So far I really like the lens.  The weight and feel of it is really nice on the A7RII.  The zoom ring is nice and tight, so it's easy to adjust and there is no zoom creep.  Feels way better than my old 17-40.

It's funny you ask about the sharpness.  I took some brick wall shots at a range of apertures on the tripod today at the back of my office to see if I got a good copy of the lens.  All reviews say this lens has excellent sharpness across the range.

Okay cool. Guess I'll get both in that case... Thanks!

Nice shots!

Did you get a sharp copy? Some early A7rii sample pics taken with that lens looked a little soft from the moderate onwards, it would be good to confirm its capable of resolving this sensor across the frame, and any weak spots.
