Hi jfk70,

You may be interested in this: Macro - A7R4+Vivitar 90F2.5 . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

I think the exquisite  shade of colors here you are delicately showing when shooting wide open and close.

Very nice shot.  I've heard a lot of good things about the Vivitar 90mm f2.5 -- but...

There were at least two versions of this lens (Vivitar also sold 90mm f2.8 macro lenses).  One of the f2.5 versions was made by Komine (serial # starts with 28), and does not need an extension tube to reach 1:1.  Another is a Series 1 made by Tokina (serial # starts with 37) which does use an extension tube.  Is yours one of these?

I've got the Vivitar 55mm f2.8 macro (made by Komine) and the Vivitar Series 1 105mm f2.5 macro (made by Kiron).  Both focus to 1:1 without the need for an extension tube.  I've never used either on my digital cameras, only because I have extremely nice Minolta bellows lenses.  Thanks for giving me the idea!

Using a manual focusing lens in macro work, not only saves money over auto-focusing optics, but manual focus is essential in macro work.
