A7III: Interval Shoot Function stops randomly

Recommended Posts

Hobbyist moving from video toward photography.

Picked up the A7III last week - very excited about the possibility to leave the intervalometer at home and get some nice time lapses out of the built in Interval Function.

Out of appr. 20 attempts, I've only got the sequence to finish once. It keeps stopping at random places in the sequence -sometimes at around 30-40, sometimes at 150 - I can't see a pattern yet. As far as I have noticed, there is no error message displayed - it just stops. Not powering off - just goes out of interval shooting mode and sits idle.

  • I've tried shooting in RAW and jpegs - no difference.

  • Full manual lens mounted with "active" EF-NEX adapter.

  • While trying out the function I've kept it simple:

  1. Shooting start time - 2 sec

  2. Shooting interval - 10 sec

  3. Number of shots - 200

  4. AE tracking sens - Mid

  5. Silent shooting - On

  6. Shoot intvl priority - Off

...manual exposure with shutter speed at 1/100ish.

  • I suspected the buffer filling up and tried 30 sec interval - no dice.

  • Haven't touched the firmware yet.. delivered with 3.10.

  • SD card is a Sandisk extreme pro 95mb/s, class 10, u3, 64gb. Formatted in camera.

Anyone with a clue what's going on?
