"Unable to Display" error message on Sony A9 II

For some reason, when I was out shooting this morning, when I attempted to display my shots taken, rather than display a photo, I would get an "Unable to Display" message on the screen.  In the mode of displaying multiple photos, it would simply display a screen full of empty dark boxes, each with a question mark in it.  When I got home, all of the photos were in fact on the SD card and intact and I was able to process them.  What would cause this maddening issue?

How cold was is when you were trying to view the pictures in the camera?  The camera has a limited temperature range.

Have you tried viewing them again in the camera with the same results?

It was 70 degrees here in Florida, so temp had nothing to do with it.  I tried numerous times, with the same results.

I can't see how to delete a posted message, but I finally got my answer on the Sony site.

I wish I had an answer.  It's great that you didn't lose any shots.  Have you tired a webs search for the error message including the camera model?

I did find the answer on the Sony site - it is a bit complicated, but my problem is solved.
