Choosing a camera for infrared

Recommended Posts

Before I made the switch to Sony, I had an IR converted Fuji camera and loved it. I am looking to get back into it but don't know which body to go with and thought maybe some people could give me some tips. I have an a7RII that I used to landscapes, architecture, etc and an a7III more for bird and wildlife photography, sometimes astro. I'm thinking with an IR camera since it is such a niche that I could save money and go with one of the earlier models like an a7R. I shouldn't the latest features and fastest AF. Does anyone have any pointers on why I might want a new version?

Alternatively, I could always convert my a7RII and then buy an upgraded version of that, but I don't know if I really need an upgraded model for landscapes and architecture. Again, the latest features don't really help out much with that. I haven't looked at the new improvements on the bodies so maybe there are some benefits to doing this.
