A7R3 vs A7R4

Recommended Posts

I have a question for all those familiar with the A7R3 and A7R3. I have the A73 and looking for second camera body. Mostly wedding and event photography. Low light focusing situations and keeping track of moving subjects. I know the new R4 is better at everything, but is the older R3 still a potent camera? The difference is about $1,000. That would go towards an excellent 1.4 - 1.8 prime.

Experienced opinions appreciated.

Thanks, F.

Bit of a confusing question ?

The Sony A7 R III is an awesome camera, but not for  the low light you are talking about .

Sony made the A 7 S  series, especially for low light  & concerts etc.

Sony Alpha A7S III: release date and price

  • Rumors suggest it'll be here in the first half of 2020
  • Sony exec confirmed continuation of product line in August
  • Predicted prices expected to be around $2,999/£2,849
  • There will be plenty A7 S II cameras, around, at a lot less, now.
  • Good Luck with your choice.
  • Perhaps check Ken Rockwells review of the  A7 S II ? very positive !
  • The A7II goes up to ISO 409,600 while the A7II "only" goes to ISO 102,400. Even ISO 102,400 is ludicrous; if you're shooting at an ISO this high, you're doing something wrong. I never use above ISO 6,400 unless I'm shooting examples .Ken Rockwell

Well Wally, I’m not doing video and the rumored A7S3 will be here when? As much as it might be the camera to beat, I need a camera now and the high ISO range I’m talking about is 6400-8000. I don’t choose to shoot at this setting unless absolutely necessary, especially common in the wedding environment. From the owner’s opinions I’ve read, both these cameras do well in this ISO range, and I’m also interested in the higher file size over the A73.

Thanks,

F

Er ??   Thats why I told you to look at the  A7 S II  ??????????????

Why look at the A7 R series, when you are looking for low light photos ?

Who mentioned  Video ?  I see no mention of video anywhere !

So , that ,certainly was not me !  I dont do  video !

Higher  file size, usually means using a tripod , to avoid blurring

Whatever,    good luck, with whatever you decide.
