Hi I have from older sony cams still two flashes.

with all i face the issue that hss seems not to work.
I have a Minolta 3600 HS and the Sony version of the same Flash.

 

with both below 1/200 i see the shutter on the image so no hss.

With the Elinchrom Quadra HS and the Skyport HS i get perfect HS pictures.

Is it the flash or the adapter from the old sony / Minotla show to the new sony shoe on the A99?

Okay this might answer my question I posted about my A7RII.

I have manual flashes that goes off via Continuous Shooting Mode ( HI ) with no slow down. They stop at 1/250.

However all my HSS flashes can be set off via 1/8000 wireless but can only go
Continuous shooting mode ( Low ).

Is there is a speed difference with your flashes?

To try and answer your question, All your previous SONY/Minlota equipment should work depending on the voltage. The voltage is problematic with backwards compatible flashes.

These flashes will only work in HSS when the head is pointed forward as in on camera direct flash. The  minute you place the head in bounce mode, HSS is not available anymore.

You will need to buy Sony MIS to Minolta Hotshoe Adapter.

This is with camera that has MIS not Minolta or Sony/Minolta.

You do know that you will loose 3 to 6 F-Stops when using HSS.

And flash head must only be pointed straight ahead.
