Late to the A7 Party

Recommended Posts

Just bought myself a second hand A7.

And a generic Olympus OM adapter (for my back-of-the-cupboard 28/3.5, 50/1.8, 100/2.8)

And a Yongnuo EOS adapter (for my 17-35/2.8, 35/14, 24-105/4, sigma 150/2.8)

And lots of spare batteries.

And a screen protector - which I have just ruined.....

I intend to learn to properly manual focus with all the glass I have.

And wow.

Just exploring but the image quality is stunning.

Off to play now.....

P.S. And I have a broken Sony 24-70mm f4 lens - not sure if it is worth trying to mend (I've seen a take-apart guide), get a quote for fixing - posted to the lens section where another user has the same issue

My advice if your lacking AF in those lens I would consider moving into the filming route and master that. Depending on your model you could disable the 30 minutes overheat nonsense. Even updating firmware will not change that factor at all. Unofficially removing it is the best option. So check that out.

Broken like how? No AF? no problem? you can still use it like a MF lens for film.

When attached the lens will connect showing 'F4' then disconnect showing 'F--'

It'll do this for several attempts then give up.

I've taken the lens apart and the common 'focus group detached from focus motor' is not present - therefore is probably the logic board.
