Sony A7iii focusing issue (?)

Has anybody noticed a difference in eye-af ability dependent on the orientation the camera is?

When I hold my camera horizontal or with my shutter hand on the bottom, the eye-af works much better (but not "flawlessly") than when my shutter hand is on the top.

Also, the images on the LCD look blurrier when I take photos in shutter hand up orientation vs. the other two orientations. The sharpness on the computer is marginally worse when in hand-up position as well.

I'm shooting with a Sony a7iii adapting Sigma 35 and 50 with mc-11 adapter Canon mount.

Any help would be much appreciated.
